CLASS TITLE: Director of Pupil Personnel-Administrative Director of Student Accounting, Support Services and Administration

 

REPORTS TO: Superintendent

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

 

To assist the Superintendent in the discharge of his/her duties as needed, giving primary consideration to those duties related to school attendance. To ensure the use of appropriate software and other attendance records enhancing and improving all students’ opportunities for academic success.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

 

Enforces all compulsory attendance and census laws; communicates and interprets laws and regulations to administrators, staff and community.

 

Acquaints the school with home conditions of the student, and the home with the work and advantages of the school.

 

Secures enrollment in the school of all students who should be enrolled and keeps all attendance and truancy, and seeks the elimination of these causes through intervention or initiation of court referrals.

 

Visits homes of students who are absent from school or who are reported to be in need of books, clothing or parental care.

 

Coordinates with Family Resource and Youth Service Center coordinators to ensure eligible students have needed supplies and services.

 

Collaborate with principals to identify and provide support for at-risk students.

 

Conferences with students and parents who have decided to drop out of school in order to determine interventions and other options.

 

Coordinates and implements the District Drop-out Prevention Plan.

 

Oversees and provides direction for the Clark County Day Treatment Program, alternative to suspension/expulsion programs and dropout prevention programs.

 

Oversees the Community Education Director and program.

 

Prepares and submits local, state and national attendance reports, records and related documents.

 

Serves as liaison to the Superintendent regarding district administration policies and procedures.

 

Develops a plan for maintaining and keeping all records and completing all reports required by law, regulations, Board of Education and Superintendent. Issues transcripts of grades and verifies level of former students.

 

Oversees and provides direction for the District’s student service programs including but not limited to Family Resource and Youth Service Centers, health services, home hospital instruction and counseling program.

 

Works with service providers to ensure coordination of services.

 

Remains abreast of and enforces laws, regulations and policies related to the Director of Pupil Personnel position.

 

Establishes open line of communication and a cooperative relationship with the Court system, community agencies, health department and businesses.

 

Prepares a variety of reports/documents; makes a variety of records and data as required by the Superintendent.

 

Participates in required training and professional growth activities as required by law or the Superintendent.

 

Influences the school environment on behalf of students and their needs.

 

Serves as the custodian of student records, plan, organize and coordinate the response to record requests and student record subpoenas.

 

Provides advice and counsel to District and members of educational community concerning youth service referrals, inter-district transfer issues, foreign student attendance eligibility and student discipline.

 

Collaborates with the Finance Officer to ensure accurate data that impact SEEK calculations and other funding in a timely manner.

 

Performs other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent.

 

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A valid Kentucky teaching certificate endorsed for the position of Director of Pupil Personnel.

A master’s degree from an accredited institution with a major in education or psychology plus 15 semester hours of graduate study. Three years successful teaching and/or administrative

experience. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

 

Valid Kentucky Driver’s license
