POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Human Resources Director is vital in supporting the strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations of the Human Resources (HR) Department. Working closely with the HR Director, this role contributes to developing and implementing HR policies, programs, and procedures to support Clark County’s mission, goals, and objectives.

 

DISTRICT AND SCHOOL PRIORITY ALIGNMENT

Align actions with district and school values and core priorities; policies & procedures; vision and mission statements. 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Policy Development and Implementation: Assist in the development, interpretation, and implementation of HR policies, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Collaborate with department heads to communicate policies effectively across the organization.

Employee Relations: Serve as a resource for employees and management regarding HR-related inquiries, concerns, and conflict resolution. Help maintain a positive work environment by promoting fair and consistent practices.

Recruitment and Onboarding: Support the recruitment process by assisting with job postings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks. Coordinate new employee orientation programs to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.

Training and Development: Assist in identifying training needs and coordinating employee development programs. Collaborate with department managers to facilitate training sessions and workshops aimed at enhancing employee skills and performance.

Performance Management: Support the performance management process by assisting with goal setting, performance evaluations, and feedback sessions. Help ensure that performance expectations are clear and aligned with organizational objectives.

HR Administration: Oversee HR administrative tasks such as maintaining employee records, processing payroll changes, and managing benefits administration. Ensure accuracy and confidentiality in all HR transactions and records.

Compliance and Risk Management: Stay updated on relevant employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance. Assist in conducting audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and mitigate risks related to HR practices.

HR Projects and Initiatives: Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the HR Director, such as diversity and inclusion programs, employee engagement initiatives, or process improvement projects.

Maintain job description cataloge, updating when necessary.

Research opportunities for grants to develop and sustain employee recruitment and retention efforts.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
