QUALIFICATIONS

Kentucky teacher certification 

Master’s degree or higher in Special Education, Educational Psychology, or related field

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Educational Diagnostician will play a crucial role in identifying and assessing learning challenges and disabilities in students. They will collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to students' unique needs and ensure their academic success.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive educational assessments to identify learning disabilities, developmental delays, and other special education needs. Utilize various assessment tools and techniques to evaluate students' cognitive abilities, academic skills, and emotional/behavioral functioning.

Data Analysis and Interpretation:  Analyze assessment results to determine students' strengths, weaknesses, and learning profiles. Interpret assessment findings to guide instructional planning and develop effective interventions.

Collaboration and Consultation: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school administrators to discuss assessment results and develop appropriate intervention strategies. Provide consultation and support to educators regarding instructional methods, accommodations, and modifications for students with special needs.

Individualized Education Planning: Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) based on assessment findings and educational goals. Monitor and review IEPs regularly to ensure they are meeting students' needs and making progress toward academic and developmental goals.

Professional Development: Stay updated on current trends, research, and best practices in special education and diagnostic assessment. Participate in professional development activities, workshops, and training opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in the field.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and educators.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Ability to conduct educational assessments and work with students with diverse learning needs.

Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and procedures.

Knowledge of intervention (RTI) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) frameworks.

Knowledge of different learning styles and instructional strategies tailored to individual student needs.

Ability to adapt assessment methods and strategies to accommodate students with various disabilities and learning challenges.

Proficiency in utilizing assessment tools, software, and technology relevant to educational diagnostics.

Adhere to the professional Code of Ethics.

Knowledge of CCPS policies and procedures.
