CLASS TITLE: Substitute Teacher
REPORTS TO: Principal
BASIC FUNCTION: To enable each child to pursue his education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his regular teacher.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Reports to the principal upon arrival, 15 minutes before the official school opening
.
Reviews with the principal, team leader, or department head all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he is assigned.
Teaches the lessons outlined and described in the Teacher’s Plan Book as prepared by the absent teacher.
Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and during lunch.
Writes a note about work completed at the end of each teaching day, and leaves it for the regular classroom teacher.
Remains in assigned classroom until 30 minutes after the official school closing.
Reports to the building principal at the conclusion of the teaching day, and verifies whether or not his services will be required on the next teaching day.
Performs other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the Principal.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Kentucky Teaching Certification or a substitute teacher’s certificate obtained from the District; demonstrated familiarity with school, philosophy, program and policies.
