QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s Degree required; principalship required

Minimum of three years of experience in school-level leadership, preferably in early childhood, aftercare, or daycare settings

Knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of Preschool, Aftercare, and Daycare programs, preferred

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Early Learning oversees the coordination and management of the District’s Preschool, Aftercare, and Staff Daycare programs. This position ensures that these programs operate efficiently and in alignment with the District’s mission to provide quality care and enrichment opportunities for students and staff. The director will be responsible for program development, staffing, budgeting, and ensuring the academic and emotional needs of students are met. Additionally, the director will work closely with administrators, teachers, and community partners to foster a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for both students and staff.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Adhere to all District and State guidelines for early learning and daycare programs. 

Direct and manage all aspects of the Preschool, Aftercare, and Staff Daycare programs, including the development of curriculum, staffing, budgeting, and scheduling.

Provide overall planning, direction, and supervision of daily operations, staff, and facilities to ensure the effective and smooth running of all programs.

Direct and coordinate intervention and enrichment activities for improving student outcomes. 

Maintain high safety and quality standards for all programs, ensuring that students are well cared for and engaged in developmentally appropriate activities.

Provide professional development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills in working with young children, as well as in program management and safety practices.

Collaborate with district administrators, educators, community organizations, and external partners to create a cohesive and supportive program that meets the diverse needs of students and staff. Foster relationships with families and guardians to ensure effective communication and satisfaction with the programs.

Collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of the programs. Prepare and submit reports as required by the district and relevant state agencies. Provide regular updates to district leadership on program performance and outcomes.

Cultivate and manage relationships with local education leaders, community stakeholders, and external partners as appropriate. 

Ensure legal and ethical standards are maintained to safeguard the privacy, rights, and dignity of individuals and families served.

Develop and manage the budget for all programs, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently. Seek opportunities for grants and other funding sources to support program growth and sustainability.

Establish enrollment procedures and participant guidelines.

Design and implement innovative strategies for improving program effectiveness, including the use of technology and the development of special initiatives to meet the needs of students and staff.

Work with school administrators, staff, local agencies, governmental bodies, and businesses to foster coordination of services and integration with other school and community programs. 

Participate in local, state, and national professional organizations related to Early Learning, aftercare, and daycare programs.

Administer all grant funds in accordance with Board of Education policy and procedures.

Coordinate and supervise effective and efficient use of district facilities.

Demonstrate punctuality and regular attendance. 

Maintain an appropriate professional appearance.

Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Adhere to the professional Code of Ethics

Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and staff members.

In-depth knowledge of early childhood education, aftercare, and staff daycare programs.

Possess verbal and written communication skills

Proficient in using technology and educational software to support program management and delivery.

Analyze situations accurately and adopt a practical course of action

Efficiently operate office equipment, and maintain records and files according to policies and procedures

Maintain current knowledge of scientifically based research trends and issues in school improvement by attending conferences and reading/viewing professional material

Ability to manage budget contracts and memorandum or understandings with community partners and contract staff and supports. 

Respond skillfully and efficiently with resources and related services to administrators as needed to support school innovation.
